SEA owns a conservation easement on this lovely stretch of beach on the island's west end. The easement was donated by the family of Derick Steinmann. SEA is currently discussing options for use of this property with representatives of the Steinmann family.
SEA's administrative offices are located in Gallows Bay, just east of Christiansted town. Stop in and meet the staff!
This center-island property includes the ruins of a Danish period 'well tower' built to support a windmill that would provide the power to draw water, likely for animals. It is now home to a colony of bats commonly called Cave Bats (Brachyphylla cavernarum). They weigh about 2 oz. and play an important role in the pollination of sausage tree, calabash, silk cotton, and baobab trees.
The Learning Lab is SEA's mobile educational resource, used to bring environmental learning modules and equipment to the public schools and special events. Read more about the Learning Lab
